The Jay Turser JTB401 IV is a not too pretty, not too expensive and yet very gigable bass that is a blast to play and is so affordable that I can't imagine anyone playing it and not buying one. If you gig with a backup, try one of these! I was sold in about two minutes and it is a permanent addition to the family. I might even acquire one of its brothers or sisters later in a different color! Turser likes to promote their "Lifetime Warranty" but I would like to have known the lifetime warranty didn't cover electronics before I made the purchase instead of when I read the warranty fine print later at home. However I still would have bought it. The worst thing about it is the factory strings, which is one easily remedied issue. Most people change to their favorite strings first thing anyway. Beginners can play the stock strings just fine though. They just didn't suit me. This bass is one third the price of a Fender Sting model or a Fender 50's Precision reissue. I'm a very happy old man now, reliving my long lost Telecaster bass days for a grand total of about $200. Play one & see.

Sometimes you pick up something and for unexplainable reasons you connect with it. It happened to my band's sax player when he found an old used sax in a pawnshop for about $200. He was planning to use that cheap sax as a practice/backup horn to save his expensive new US horn. But now that old pawnshop sax is the only sax he plays. It happened to me when I found this Jay Turser bass. It honestly does everything I need it to do and then some, while being one of the simplest and least expensive basses on the market. I'm really surprized this thing is still so cheap. I'm also surprized I don't see many around either. A well kept secret perhaps? Fender better watch their step. Jay Turser is stealing the hearts of lifelong customers with the 401!
