Featuring solid woods throughout, the D16GT and D16RGT are superb, dreadnought acoustics, at affordable prices. With details like herringbone inlays, 2-piece back construction, scalloped (hybrid) bracing, and Spruce tops (solid Spruce on the D16GT!), these instruments sound as great as they look. The D16GT features solid Mahogany back and sides with black binding, a gloss Sitka Spruce top, and satin finish back and sides. I spent about 6 hrs in 2 different shops with large selections playing Gibsons, Martins and Taylors. Martins were my personal favorites for playability and tone. Although I had about 2K to spend I actually preferred the D-16's over the much more expensive D-28's and 35's. This guitar is a no- frill's sort of dreadnought but the sound is excellent and tone is the most important reason for making that final choice. Looking forward to playing this until I'm old and arthritic.
