Casio portable keyboards

DOVER, NJ, July 18, 2003 — Casio, Inc., of Dover, NJ, the leading musical keyboard
manufacturer in the United States, introduced three full size portable keyboards with
enhanced performance features to their line of best selling keyboards.

“Our portable keyboards are compact, easy and fun to use and our new line includes 3
new 61-key full size keyboards with a multitude of select features and functions
exclusive to Casio,” said Neil Roberts, Senior Vice President of Casio’s Electronic
Musical Instrument Division. “We’re excited to be launching this new series of fun, easy
to use, yet high performance keyboards that provide an incredibly rewarding experience.
Our keyboards include dozens of high-quality sounds, special effects and more, making it
easier and more enjoyable than ever to learn how to play,” continued Roberts.

The new keyboard line up includes:

CTK-491 is a 5-octave, 61-key full-size keyboard. It’s perfect for beginners and features
a 12-note polyphonic MIDI keyboard with on-screen LCD, music staff and finger icons
display. With 100 tones and rhythm patterns, as well as 100 songs to play along with, the
CTK-491 offers more built-in performance than any other product in its category.

The CTK-491 adds the fun of “karaoke” to keyboard play. A microphone input with
volume control lets the user sing-along. With the 100 built-in songs and a MIDI interface
that allows the user to connect to the Internet through a home computer, enabling anyone
to quickly build an expansive song repertoire. Users can easily record a performance to
their personal computer, then store, edit and perfect it to play back through the keyboard!
An added feature is the Chord Book function that shows notes and fingerings for 15
different chord types in every key.

The CTK-491 also features the Casio Chord Accompaniment system that was specifically
developed for the novice player. Casio Chord is a method of producing automatic bass,
chords and rhythm without playing the actual chord formations in the left hand. This is a
helpful feature for novice players who are first learning to play chords with the left hand.
A more advanced method of auto-chords is built-in to the Fingered Chord Auto-
accompaniment feature for advancing players. The CASIO Chord/Fingered Chord auto-
accompaniment system makes it easy to learn how to play.

With functionality, fun and learning all in one easy to use unit, the CTK-491 is truly a
great value.

The CTK-491 will be available in July and will retail at the suggested price of $169.99.

CTK-591 is a 61-key touch sensitive full size 24-note polyphonic keyboard with LCD
and MIDI. This unique keyboard features a Musical Information System (backlit LCD)
displays selections and status of Tone Rhythm, Song, Volume, Melody Off and Tempo
for easy learning.

The CTK-59l includes an advanced 3-Step Lesson System, with a performance Grading
and Scoring system and Practice Button. The Grading feature gives the player feedback
on their performance while playing and when finished playing. A “Star Icon” is shown in
the backlit LCD panel to display the accuracy of timing for each note played. At the
completion of the play the voice grading, score meter and star icon will calculate the
practice session and give a final grade.

The CTK-591 also includes a Sing-Along feature for the 50 built-in songs. A
microphone input with volume control lets the user sing-along while playing their
favorite tune. An exclusive play switch for the Sing-Along function diminishes the
melody volume so that users can sing a song easily, just like Karaoke. There is also a key
control switch for transpose.

The CTK-591 features an incredible 246 tones and 120 rhythm patterns including 20
piano patterns, plus CASIO Chord/Fingered Chord auto-accompaniment systems; 50
Song Bank Tunes, and 50 Piano Bank Tunes. General MIDI, assignable pedal jack, and
¼” lineout/headphone jack make this keyboard a must have.

The CTK-591 will be available in July and will retail at the suggest price of $269.99.

CTK-691 is a 32-note polyphonic General MIDI touch sensitive keyboard that features
Advanced ZPI Sound Source, Drawbar Organ, Stereo Piano Sound and Internet Data
Expansion.

The Piano Setting Switch automatically transforms the keyboard to have realistic piano
sound. The CTK-691 also has 50 preset drawbar organ tones created using popular
drawbar settings, to provide life-like reproduction of rich drawbar organ sounds. The
digital drawbar also enables users to create custom sounds. The user memory area has
storage for up to 100 setups created using digital drawbars that control fade, percussion
and more. With built-in DSP presets, users can reproduce the rotary speaker effect that is
essential for the popular organ sounds of the past. The drawbar settings are easily
adjusted with the dedicated drawbar buttons.

The CTK-691 includes the Internet Data Expansion System that allows the player to
download the latest tone, rhythm, DSP setting, Registration Memory data, and songs can
be downloaded from the Casio Website (music.casio.com). Users can transfer data to the
keyboard through the MIDI connection. The CTK-691 is even equipped with a SMF
Player to play the songs downloaded through the Internet.
With the CTK-691’s Flash ROM feature and Registration Memory (4 sets x 8 banks),
users can expand libraries of sounds, rhythms and songs to customize later. The
Synthesizer and Sequencer functions can be used for editing and creating tones. With the
built-in mixer function, users have full control over each MIDI channel and
accompaniment part. The CTK-691 helps to create your own studio.
This powerful keyboard with Flash ROM includes 790 Tones: 566 preset tones (300
Advanced tones*, 128 GM tones, 72 Various, 16 Drum Sets, 50 Drawbar Organs) plus
224 user programmable tones, Stereo Piano Sound; Synthesize functions, 232 Digital
