Cerwin-Vega, America’s largest family-owned and operated loudspeaker company, introduces the new High Energy HED Series Mobile-Audio Subwoofers. The HED subwoofers offer eight models in four sizes ranging from 8-15 inches, in single, or dual voice coil designs. HED is a new generation of subwoofers featuring landmark technology and outstanding performance.

The HED subs sport a unique surround with Cerwin-Vega’s propriety V-flex suspension design. The V-Flex surround mechanically resists lateral “cone drift” for perfect pistonic movement of the cone —a distinctive advantage particularly in high power handling. Composed of UV blocking polyether foam, V-Flex resists weathering and prolongs the life of the speaker.

Cerwin-Vega also developed an entirely new cone design for the HED subwoofers which features titanium nickel alloy vapor-deposition injection-molded pearl-mica polypropylene construction to deliver deep, powerful and distortion free bass. The dust dome, designed as an integral part of the cone body, adds critical structural stability at the neck of the cone.

The HED cones are attached to deep draw metal frames which permit greater voice coil excursion capability for increased mechanical power handling and greater cone excursion without “bottoming out.” Monolithic pole piece/back plate provides maximum magnetic efficiency from the Strontium ferrite magnet, which offers high-flux density. The hand-crafted 2-inch and 1-1/2-inch voice coils with precision wound Swiss wire ensure maximum efficiency and output. A specially designed deep groove back-plate permits greater voice coil excursion, resulting in increased mechanical power handling capability.
