Crate bids farewell to Johnnie Johnson
It is with great sadness that the Crate family bids farewell to a good friend and fellow St. Louisan, Johnnie Johnson. Johnson, a rock ‘n’ roll pioneer who teamed up with Chuck Berry on classic songs such as “Roll Over Beethoven” and “No Particular Place to Go”, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001 and eventually became known as the “Father of Rock ‘N’ Roll Piano”.
In February of 2005, Crate hosted a special performance of Johnnie Johnson and his band, alongside fellow rock legends Bo Diddley and Billy F. Gibbons, whereupon Crate presented Johnson with a special Lifetime Achievement Award commemorating his work. Those lucky enough to have been in attendance that night will surely remember the spectacular performance given by Johnnie and crew for a long time to come.
We at Crate Amplifiers wish to express our deepest sympathies to the family, friends, and fans of Johnnie Johnson, truly one of the most inspiring and legendary musicians of all time.
