LP is proud to announce that longtime artist/clinician Jim
Greiner has earned
kudos in the September 2004 issue of Drum! magazine.
In the annual Drummies Readers’ Poll,
singling out the best of the best, the LP/Greiner
production Community
Drumming for Health and Happiness took
top honors in the category Percussion DVD/Video of
the Year.
The video examines various ways to get involved
in communal drumming activities, and, thus, enhance
health, happiness, and fitness. One of the strengths
of this motivational DVD is that it succeeds in teaching
drumming techniques without preaching, underscoring
the fact that, at its root, drumming can be fun!
Such is obviously the case among the participants
of the whopping fifty person drum circle presented
in the video. Drum! readers obviously appreciated
the mix of education and recreation depicted in Community
Drumming for Health and Happiness—enough to
place it above all other videos in the same category.
The DVD, as Jim
Greiner puts it, “is an excellent
adjunct to our Recreational and Community Drumming
Program, and the award comes at a great time: I’ve
been busy doing drum circles and Facilitation
Drum! magazine’s Andy Doerschuk comments, “I
met Jim Greiner in Santa Cruz—the hotbed of
the drum circle movement—in the late eighties.
He was perfectly poised to spearhead that movement.
Then as now, his standpoint has been to honor the
goals of that movement—as opposed to becoming
a star. He deserves this award!”
LP takes pride in supporting endorser
Jim
Greiner in his mission to raise awareness of
the beneficial effects of playing percussion. Like
Greiner, LP is concerned with fostering communal
drum activities aimed at all demographic groups,
young and old alike.
